Product Description:
Large and thick wooden compound doors fitted with elaborate old iron decoration in rare three dimensional floral design and coin motif. All iron fittings are original with traces of old red lacquer on the floral design. This solid pair of doors came from Northern China were once the outside protective doors for the family living quarter built with an outside wall encircling a courtyard space. These doors were held and supported by a pair of large carved stone Fu-lions at the main entrance of an old Chinese dwelling compound where often several generations lived together. These doos are exceptionally beautiful. They are taller and more slender in dimensions. Since Jan 2004, architectural doors and windows are difficult to obtain due to China's effort in salvaging the finest antiquities available domestically, and also because of the abundant newly rising museums seeking for the stock. They are great investments of life-time aesthetics for your home.
