 VyMaC Properties LLP

Product Description:
Wisconsin-based VyMac Properties LLP owner and serial entrepreneur Dave R. Young enlisted the project of renovating the masonry and brick building that once housed the Creamery Package Manufacturing Company, a company whose roots in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin date back to 1890. The property was first developed in the 1800's by Cornish, Curtis and Green, and was used as a manufacturing site for wooden silos and wooden butter churns. The Chicago-based Creamery Package Manufacturing Company later purchased the property. In the early 1920's, the current five-story building was erected on the site. Over the next 80 plus years, the building changed hands several more times, but has always redeemed its manufacturing veneer. The last occupants of the property built food and milk processing equipment.

Young expressed interest in the building five years ago, and retained the Design Alliance, a local firm for architectural and design services for the historic renovation. What Young stumbled upon while shedding the partitions of this building became the driving force behind this huge restoration. Young took advantage of incorporating the old with the new; mixing recycled relics with green-building techniques. Energy-efficient elements incorporated into the restoration include:
• Modulating boilers that heat up and cool down as needed
• Fluorescent lighting that consumes less electricity
• Sensor-controlled lighting to go out automatically when there's no one in the room
• Heating and air-conditioning systems that utilize large-volume units for ducts
• A Carrier comfort system which allows each space to be controlled very efficiently and allows changing of set points as space requires
• Automatic blinds to use and manage passive solar power for heating and reflection

With almost 100,000 square feet of space, the building houses a mix of retail and office spaces. In fact, the 15,000 square foot fifth floor is home to VyMaC Corporation, America's largest bedding kit supplier and parent company of Verlo Mattress Factory Stores.
