Her clients look for 19th century functional wood furniture such as tables, chairs, and cabinets. In the realm of decorative arts, they tend to like bamboo or wood baskets and small country stools made of natural woods. Prices cover a wide span, from less than $100 for a small stool, to as much as $20,000 for an exceptional cabinet. Prices vary depending on rarity, workmanship, design, color, carving, and rare lacquer work,' Shen reports... ...Eighteenth century China imports may not be as readily available as the 19th century pieces, but as April Shen points out, 'They are incomparible in terms of the art forms and the way they are put together.' They have an enthusiastic following... ...April Shen feels that clients looking for 18th century imports at her Gallery 'are affluent buyers who are either collectors or want an interesting piece for thier home.' There are also interior designers and museums that are interested in 17th to 19th century examples. Popular decorative arts objects have blue and white motifs, and include porcelain vases, jars, bowls, and decorative plates.'
