| Product Description: Large doors like this set with an original red lacquer finish is rare either in the Chinese domestic or in the export market. The height of the doors and the use of the large amount of Chinese Zhu-Sha red color pigment, an expensive natural color pigment considered as valuable as gold in ancient China, indicate the prominence of the building these doors belonged to. The lacy, see-through carvings of these doors indicate that these doors were created as part of the set for the facades of the layered old Chinese dwelling. Since Jan 2004, architectural doors and windows are difficult to obtain due to China's effort in salvaging the finest antiquities available domestically, and also because of the abundant newly rising museums seeking for the stock.
